Privacy & cookies
Last updated: 7 September 2026. This notice explains how Craig & Co House Clearances, a sole trader business based in Edinburgh, handles personal data. We are the data controller for the information described here.
Cookies — there aren't any
This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics, and loads no third-party scripts, fonts, trackers or advertising pixels. Nothing is stored on your device and nothing about your visit is shared with anyone. That is why you have not been shown a cookie banner — there is nothing to consent to.
If that ever changes, this page will be updated and a consent banner added before any non-essential cookie is set.
What we collect
- When you contact us
- Your name, phone number or email address, the property postcode, and whatever you tell us about the clearance.
- When you use the quote form
- The fields you complete. Form submissions are processed by Netlify, our website host, and delivered to us by email.
- When we carry out work for you
- The property address, quote and invoice details, payment records, and before-and-after photographs of the property.
- Server logs
- Our host keeps standard technical logs, which may include IP addresses, for security and reliability.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To give you a quote and answer your enquiry — steps taken at your request before entering a contract.
- To carry out the clearance and take payment — performance of a contract.
- To keep accounting and waste transfer records — legal obligation.
- To keep photographs as a record of work carried out — our legitimate interest in evidencing the condition of a property before and after clearance and resolving any dispute.
We will not use photographs of your property in marketing without asking you first, and never in a way that identifies the address or the occupier.
What we never do
We do not sell personal data, share it with advertisers, or use it to profile you. We do not send marketing emails unless you ask us to.
Documents found during a clearance
Clearances frequently uncover personal paperwork, correspondence and identity documents belonging to you or to a deceased person. These are set aside and returned to you or to the executor. They are not read beyond what is needed to identify them, and they are never disposed of in general waste.
Who we share it with
- Netlify — website hosting and form delivery.
- Our email provider — to receive and reply to your messages.
- Licensed waste facilities — waste transfer documentation, where legally required.
- HMRC and our accountant — where required for tax and accounting.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become jobs are deleted within 12 months. Records relating to completed work, including invoices and waste transfer notes, are kept for six years as required for tax and waste duty-of-care purposes. Photographs are kept for two years unless there is an ongoing dispute.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these, email info@craigandcoclearances.co.uk and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
